MP Amritpal Singh’s father for ‘exemplary’ action against Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Badal
Amritsar, August 27
Ahead of a meeting of five high priests scheduled to be held on August 30 to take a call on SAD’s internal crisis, Tarsem Singh, father of jailed MP (Khadoor Sahib) Amritpal Singh, today urged the Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh to take “exemplary” action against SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal for allegedly making “anti-Panthic” moves for political gains.
Though Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh was not available, Tarsem Singh submitted a letter, addressed to the Jathedar, to the Akal Takht secretariat. He has mentioned about the “mistakes” committed during the SAD regime, including 2015 sacrilege cases, promoting dera culture for political gains, pardon to controversial Sirsa Dera chief, fake encounters and the appointment of tainted police officials on top posts
“No political party has done as much harm to the Sikhs as the SAD. That is the reason that the SAD’s political graph continues to decline in Punjab. Today, after having deliberation with the ‘sangat’, we submitted a memorandum addressed the Jathedar who has to take a call on Sukhbir’s misconduct after the five high priests’ meeting,” he said.
He requested the Jathedar that keeping in view the “mistakes” committed while Sukhbir was the Home Minister, he should be removed from heading the SAD and banned from sharing any political or religious platform during his lifetime.
