Amritsar: Directorate of placement and career enhancement, Guru Nanak Dev University, organised a placement drive by Bharat Electronics Limited. The company offered jobs to two students from BTech (Electronics and Communication Engineering) with a Rs 12.45 lakh per annum package. Aryan Dhanotra and Aditya Kumar Tiwari were recruited as deputy engineers (E-II). The students would begin working for the organisation around June after they finish their course. The company officials conducted a written test and rounds of interviews during the selection process after which the students were selected. Vice-Chancellor Jaspal Singh Sandhu extended his best wishes to the students and faculty members of the electronics department on the achievement.

DAV Public School

International Mother Language Day was celebrated at DAV Public School by members of the literary club. The theme was ‘Multilingual Education is a Pillar of Intergenerational Learning’. Principal Pallavi Sethi said it was necessary to foster love for one’s mother tongue as it was the primary mode of communication. She said the school was privileged to have students from different parts of India as it created a culturally rich learning environment for all.

Gems Cambridge Int’l School

Professor Mini Sharma, head, department of nutrition and dietetics, Khalsa College for Women, Amritsar conducted a seminar on ‘Mental Health and Nutrition’ at Gems Cambridge International School. Sharma talked about the connections between the brain and body. She encouraged students to eat healthy food and avoid junk food and supplements. She also enlightened the students about various lifestyle diseases and how they could be avoided.

DAV College

DAV College, Amritsar, conducted a workshop-cum-brainstorming session on ‘Entrepreneurship and Innovation as Career Opportunities’. The institution’s innovation council (IIC) and lions club jointly organised the session in the College. The resource person was JCI India national trainer Sakshi Mahajan. Principal Amardeep Gupta welcomed the chief guest and shared the importance of inculcating innovation for a better future. JC Sakshi Mahajan said the key to any successful business was the ability to come up with new ideas. The students were informed of the importance an out-of-box thinking in today’s world.
