Amritsar: The University Business School of Guru Nanak Dev University organised an inter-department business quiz ‘Biz-Brain’. The event was organised by ‘Dinero Finance Club’ of UBS department under the mentorship of Dr Ritima Khindri, Anshjot Singh and Archit Verma. The event was attended by 128 students of various departments. Aditya Arora and Aryan Rawlley from the UBS department won the first position which entailed a cash prize worth Rs 1,000, a trophy and an appreciation certificate sponsored by Career Launcher, Amritsar. Department head Dr Pavleen Soni congratulated the winners and thanked the faculty and students for making the event successful.

Essay-writing competition

Mehakdeep Kaur of Class IX participated in Dr APJ Abdul Kalam national-level essay-writing competition organised by Khusro Foundation. Students belonging to age group 14-18 were given the topic ‘How do I see my role in the India of my Dreams?’ Many schools from across the nation took part in the competition in which Mehakdeep carved a place for herself in the top 25 and secured a certificate of excellence. Principal Pallavi Sethi congratulated her and said she was exceptionally gifted and should look forward to achieving new heights.

Capacity-building programme

The NSS wing of Global Group of Institutes organised a capacity building-cum-awareness programme, ‘Empowering Grassroots Innovators’ in association with Grassroots Innovators of Punjab (GRIP) a joint initiative of National Innovation Foundation, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Department of Science, Technology and Environment, Government of Punjab. IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) is co-ordinating the programme to strengthen grassroots innovations in the state. Anuj Goyal, scientist at the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology said the programme aimed at sensitising grassroots innovators and register them under the GRIP programme to enhance their skills, help them connect with industry experts and foster a culture of innovation within the community. Coordinator of the programme Dr Mriginder Singh Bedi and Dr Manpreet Singh, scientist, Punjab State Council for Science and Technology were present.

Schedule for submission of exam forms

The schedule for online submission of examination forms and fee payment for LLB (TYC), (FYIC) Semester II and BEd Semester II for regular and private students was announced by GNDU. Examination incharge Palwinder Singh said the last dates for subject selection for regular students by colleges on portal and challan generation would be March 4. The last date with a late fee of Rs 250 would be March 11, while it would be March 14 and March 21 with late fee of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000, respectively. He said with a Rs 1,000 per day fine, the maximum bar for the late fee could be up to Rs 30,000, which could be paid until ten days before the commencement of the session’s examinations. He said the last date for submission of fee for regular students by cash/draft at the university cash counter or via bank transfer by colleges was March 11 (without late fee). He said that the grace period of three days was already added in to the given dates hence no extra time would be provided to candidates.
