Amritsar, September 1
A day after the city police seized three Glock 9mm pistols smuggled from Pakistan from three drug peddlers, the Amritsar rural police has busted yet another trans-border drug and weapon smuggling module with the arrest of a cross-border trafficker, Ravinder Singh of Daoke village, located near the international border here. All three seized pistols were without bullets. His accomplice identified as Arshdeep Singh of same village was yet to be arrested.
Charanjit Singh, SSP Amritsar rural, said the CIA staff of rural police got the tip-off that the Ravinder and Arshdeep were involved in smuggling of weapons from Pakistan and they had recently received a consignment of pistols smuggled from the neighboring country. Immediately, police teams were dispatched and Ravinder Singh was arrested when he has been travelling on a bike (PB-O2-CT-5878). During search, the police seized the weapons.
During preliminary investigation, Ravinder disclosed that he along with Arshdeep Singh was in contact with Pakistan-based drug peddler going by the name ‘Chacha’.
He was produced in the court of a duty magistrate and brought on police remand for further investigations, said the SSP while adding that raids were on to nab Arshdeep. Probe was on to ascertain how many weapons and drugs they had smuggled so far. There was no previous FIR registered against them in the past.
