Amritsar police crackdown on heroin smuggling: 12 kg seized, father-son duo arrested
Two days after seizing 8.1 kg of heroin, the Amritsar City Police Commissionerate has seized another 12 kg heroin during investigations into the prior recovery. Apart from this, the police also confiscated a pistol with a magazine in the case.
“The father-son duo, Gurbhej Singh and Gurdit Singh, along with Malkit Singh, were running a cartel in the Tarn Taran sector. Gurbhej was coordinating directly with Pakistan-based smugglers. Based on his disclosure, 10 kg heroin was recovered, hidden in an earthen pit at his house,” said Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar.
Their involvement came to light during the interrogation of Gursewak Singh, who was earlier nabbed with 8 kg heroin. Along with Gursewak Singh, the police had seized four other smugglers. Bhullar said further investigations led to the nomination and arrest of Gurjit Singh of village Kotli Saka. Based on his disclosure, the police seized 2.06 kg heroin, a .30 bore pistol, and a magazine.
