Amritsar rural police bust cross-border smuggling module, 2 held
The duo was in contact with a Pakistan-based handler, highlighting strong cross-border links behind the conspiracy
Acting on a tip off, the Amritsar rural police today busted a cross-border smuggling module leading to the recovery of an Improvised explosive device (IED) from two persons in Gharinda area.
DGP Punjab Police Gaurav Yadav, sharing the information on X, said that the special cell of the rural police also seized two mobile phones from the suspects.
Preliminary probe indicated that the duo was in contact with a Pakistan-based handler, highlighting strong cross-border links behind the conspiracy.
SSP Amritsar Suhail Qasim Mir said the accused would be produced in the local court seeking police remand for further interrogation.
They had retrieved the IED from near the International Border.
