Amritsar: On behalf of the Shaheed Madan Lal Dhingra Memorial Committee and Mata Kanya Kalyan Samiti, scholarships were given to children from economically weaker families at Shaheed Madan Lal Dhingra Memorial in Golabagh on Wednesday. The assistance was given to more than 250 students, including 36 students of Laxmi Narayan Sanskrit College, about 150 children of employees of the Durgiana Committee and more than 100 children from other schools of the city. Laxmi Kanta Chawla, former cabinet minister, said an appeal is made to the people of Amritsar to also contribute at least once a year for the education of these children. “Educating and inculcating good values in children is the real service of Mother India,” she said.
