Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, led by Dr Ravinder Kumar, has established a ‘5G Use Case Lab’ at its Department of Electronics Technology, in collaboration with the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India.
To extend the outreach of this facility, a five-day physical training programme on the 5G Lab for North Zone institutes was held from August 4 to 8 at the GNDU campus.
The workshop saw enthusiastic participation from faculty and students of leading institutions, including NIT Jalandhar, UIET Punjab University Chandigarh, PEC Chandigarh, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology Patiala, IIT Ropar, as well as the host institution, GNDU Amritsar.
Expert sessions were conducted by resource persons from Telecommunication Consultants India Limited (TCIL), offering valuable industry expertise and practical insights into 5G applications and future trends in telecommunications.
During the inaugural ceremony, Dr Ravinder Kumar, head of the Department of Electronics Technology, congratulated the organising team and underlined the importance of being industry-ready by gaining exposure to next-generation technologies such as 5G.
Assistant professors Dr Rajdeep Singh Sohal and Dr Jaipreet Kaur said the training programme not only served as a platform for collaborative learning and skill development but also reflected GNDU’s commitment to promoting technological advancement and academic excellence across northern India
