Amritsar weightlifters win medals in state championship

City weightlifters won medals in the Punjab State Junior and Senior Weightlifting Championship which recently concluded in Phagwara.

In the 60-kg category Vishal won the top position, while Vanshdeep Singh won a bronze medal, Sunil Singh won a gold medal in the 65 kg category, Aditya won a gold medal in the 71 kg category, Yousuf a silver medal in 71 kg, Karanpreet Singh a bronze medal in 79 kg category, Surinderpal Singh a silver medal in 88 kg, Jaideep Singh a silver medal in 94 kg and Shaib Singh won a silver medal in 110 kg category.

In the girls’ group, Lovejot Kaur secured a bronze medal in 48 kg and Simran Sharma a silver medal in 86 + kg category. They credited their success to their coach, retired Subedar Rajinder Singh.
