Amritsar youth dies of ‘drug overdose’, 3 booked for culpable homicide
After a youth allegedly lost his life due to drug overdose in Sultanwind village, the police have booked his three friends for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Those booked have been identified as Monu, his brother Happy and Sajan, all residents of Pandora village. Cops were yet to make any arrest in the case.
The deceased, Suraj Yadav’s body was found at the residence of Monu and Happy, who were also drug addicts.
Kishan Yadav, father of the deceased, said he had four children and Suraj was the youngest.
He said he and Suraj had shifted from Sultandwind village to Bua Nangli village around four months ago after his son started consuming drugs.
He said three days ago he along with Suraj had gone to Sultanwind village to attend a fair. He said when they reached the village; Suraj got a call from Sajan, who was waiting for him near the bus stop. He said both of them went on a bike to attend the fair.
Yadav said as his son didn’t return till late evening, he went to Sajan’s house but couldn’t find him. Later, he returned to Bua Nangali village.
He said the next day, he got a call from Ajay Dodhi of Sultanwind village that Suraj had died.
Yadav said he found the body of Suraj at the house of Monu and Happy. He alleged that Sajan and Suraj might have consumed drugs together along with Monu and Happy.
Investigating Officer Dilbagh Singh said Monu, Happy and Sajan along with Suraj apparently consumed drugs. After Suraj’s death, all of them fled. He said efforts were underway to nab them.
