Another Heritage Street to come up in Khatkar Kalan, says minister

Punjab Tourism Recognitions (PTR)-2024 was organised for the first time by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the Department of Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs in Amritsar today. Minister for Tourism and Hospitality Tarunpreet Singh Sond, who gave away the awards to winners, said that the Punjab government is building another Heritage Street at Khatkar Kalan, the native village of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, to boost tourism.

The Punjab Tourism Destination of the Year 2024 award was given to holy city, Amritsar while Best Water Conservation Enterprise award was given to Gobindgarh Fort, Amritsar. Among others were Best Farm Tourist Resort award winner Hansali Farm, Shri Fatehgarh Sahib; Best Tourism Startup Award to Victorian Elegance and Best Woman Entrepreneur Award to Neha Singh.

Dr Ranjit Mehta, CEO and secretary general of PHDCCI, said it is the endeavour of the Chamber to promote the heritage and culture of Punjab across the country in collaboration with the Punjab Government. The Best Super Luxury Property award was given to Le Méridien, Amritsar, Best Heritage Luxury Property award to the Baradari Palace, Patiala, Best Premium Property award to Sure Stay Plus by Best Western, Amritsar, Best Banquet award to Rana Heritage, Sirhind. Best Club award to Lumsden Club, Amritsar, Best Property on Highways award to Eagle Motel, Rajpura and Best Jungle Wetland Resort to Kikar Lodge, Ropar.

The Best Water Conservation Enterprise award was given to Gobindgarh Fort, Amritsar. During the award programme, Karan Gilhotra, Chair, Punjab Chapter of PHDCCI, said that the purpose behind giving these awards was to increase tourism in Punjab. He said that hotel and tourism entrepreneurs of Punjab participated in with great enthusiasm.

Amrita Singh, Director of Punjab Tourism Department, Nishchaiy Behl of Regional Tourism and Hospitality Committee, PHDCCI, Bharti Sood, Regional Director, PHDCCI, were among those present on the occasion.
