The Agriculture Department has announced a scheme to provide subsidies to farmers for the procurement of crop residue management machines. The interested farmers can now apply online on the ‘Agri Machinery’ portal of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare till May 12.
The scheme aims to mitigate the practice of burning stubble, which is a major environmental concern. Under the initiative, the department will provide various machines on subsidy, including balers and rakes for making bales of straw, happy seeders for sowing wheat while spreading straw, zero till drills for sowing wheat without ploughing, super seeders for direct wheat sowing, reverse ploughs and paddy straw, choppers, shredders and mulchers.
