An ASI and two jawans of home guards were suspended on Wednesday on the charge of extorting money from truck drivers at a naka on the Amritsar-Ferozpur road. SSP Dhruv Dahiya said the action had been taken on the basis of a video clip circulated on social media. The SSP took serious note of the misconduct and called upon the general public to bring such act of corruption to his notice.

The district police in a press release said here on Thursday that the erring ASI Sawinder Singh, home guard jawans Balkar Singh and Gurbhej, were posted in traffic police Patti. The action of the SSP has been welcomed by people.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
