According to the order, Pregabalin, often prescribed by doctors to treat various medical conditions, including neuropathic pain and epilepsy, has been linked to widespread abuse and addiction. The order, issued under Section 163 of BNS, prohibits the sale of Pregabalin above 75 mg without a valid prescription. Wholesalers, retailers, chemists and pharmacies have been prohibited from selling Pregabalin above 75 mg without a prescription. As per the order, only 75 mg of Pregabalin can be prescribed by neurologists and orthopaedists. Accurate records of purchase and sale of up to 75 mg Pregabalin must be maintained. The order will remain in force until April 6, 2025.
