District Social Security Officer Asisinder Singh on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today in collaboration with the District Education Department organised a special camp at government schools in Golbagh, Majitha and Attari, where 211 persons with disabilities were distributed support measures and assistive devices around Rs 50 lakh. Asisinder Singh said that during the camp, 115 tricycles with batteries, 21 wheelchairs and other equipment were distributed to the needy.

He said on the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner, special camps were set up earlier to give auxiliary equipment to the needy and these were prepared according to the size of each person and now the camp was set up at their nearest places to facilitate their commute.

“The distribution campaign has till date dispersed 357 devices to more than 300 disabled persons,” he said. He informed that on January 23, Alimco will organise a camp at Government Senior Secondary School for Boys at Ajnala and Ramdas, on January 29 at Jandiala and Baba Bakala to give these accessories to the needy persons in the area. Apart from District Education Officer Rajesh Kumar, principal Dharminder Singh, officials of various departments were present on the occasion.
