Baba Bakala has been elevated to the status of the nagar panchayat from village panchayat. Cabinet minister Balbir Singh Sidhu informed on Sunday after paying obeisance at Baba Bakala gurdwara on the occasion of Rakhar Punia.
Sidhu said the government had promised to make Baba Bakala the nagar panchayat. He said the notification was issued in this regard on Saturday.
Sidhu also interacted with general public and staff at the Baba Bakala sub-divisional hospital. He said a 20 bed mother and child healthcare centre would be added to the existing hospital. He also announced to set up a new health centre in Rayya.
The minister also lauded the role of health employees in fighting the pandemic and credited Chief Minister Amarinder Singh for ensuring that all required manpower and infrastructure was made available to people in the state.
