Baisakhi celebrations in Tarn Taran schools

Guru Amar Dass Adarsh Institute, Goindwal Sahib

Students performed choreography related to Jallianwala Bagh, kavishari related to establishment of Khalsa Panth. Bhangra and also “Nikka Gabhru and Nikki Mutiaar” contest was also conducted. Gurmanjit Singh won the title of “Nikka Gabhru” and Harsimran Kaur won the title of “Nikki Mutyaar” for her outstanding performance. Jatinderpal Singh Randhawa Director and Manisha Sood Principal of the institution, encouraged all the students who participated in the competition and honoured them.

Majha Public School

Students came to the school with traditional Punjabi dress. A colourful Punjabi programme was presented by the students. Dr Raman Dua, Principal of the school, apprised the students of the importance of Baisakhi festival and Jallianwala Bagh episode in the history of country’s freedom movement.

Universal Academy (UA)

Presented Punjabi folk dance gidda and bhangra on the occasion. The talent of young tiny tots was praise worthy. The students also made speeches, poems, etc related to the importance of the day. Nandini Malhotra, Principal of the Academy, mentioned the importance of the festival.

Mamta Niketan Convent School

There was competition of different Punjabi cultural items. Gurcharan Kaur, Principal of the school, apprised the students of the history of forming Khalsa Panth and the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

Shah Harbans Singh International Public School

The students of Shah Harbans Singh International Public School, Rani Walah, started the programme with reciting shabad. The students also presented folk songs and other varieties of Punjabi culture items like Tappe, Mahia, bolian, bhangra and giddha, Gulwinder Singh Sandhu Managing Director of the school highlighted the importance of Khalsa Panth.

Sri Guru Harkrishan Sr Sec Public School, Jhabhal

The school celebrated Khalsa Sajna Diwas and Baisakhi under the guidance of Principal Urminder Kaur. The programme began with a holy hymn by the students. Rupinder Kaur, teacher of the school, delivered a speech on the importance of Khalsa Sajna Diwas and Baisakhi. Many students participated in various activities like skit, poems and many other cultural activities.

Majha College for Women

Students performed Punjabi culture folk items on the occasion of Baisakhi. Dr Hardeep Kaur, Principal of the college, said there was competition on Punjabi cultural items and the winners were given prizes. —
