The SSP paid credit to DGP Gaurav Yadav for his “farsightedness in formulating policies and plans.”

The Batala cyber police station cops had launched a special campaign a year ago named “Tuhada Guum Hoya Mobile Hun Wapis Tuhade Hath” (Your Lost Mobile is Now Back in Your Hands).

Through this initiative, and with the portal of the DoT, the Batala Police had successfully traced and restored over 1,100 lost mobile phones and had returned them to their rightful owners.

The total market value of these recovered devices is estimated at Rs 2.20 crore,

reflecting both the magnitude of the achievement and the scale of public benefit delivered.

The SSP dedicated the award to his team and the unyielding support of the public. “This recognition reflects the commitment of Batala Police to harness technology for citizen welfare and enhance public trust in policing. “

“Losing a mobile phone is like losing a part of yourself as the device holds a person’s digital identity, memories of varied kinds and personal connections. Tracing a lost phone is not a simple task. It requires tireless follow-ups, advanced technical tracking, coordination with telecom service providers across states and countless hours of ground verification. Once a phone’s digital footprint is traced, teams often have to reach out to distant districts and even other states to secure recovery,” said the SSP.

He appealed to the public to continue supporting this initiative by reporting their lost mobile phones at the nearest Saanjh Centre and subsequently contacting the Cyber Crime Police Station, Batala, to ensure prompt tracing and recovery.
