The incident took place in Radha Krishna colony in the heart of the city. Notably, Raj Kumar, a Punjab Police constable who had been assigned security duty with AAP leader Yash Pal Chauhan, whose residence is nearby, chased one of the assailants for nearly 3 kilometres before nabbing him.

SSP Suhail Qasim Mir said he had recommended an out-of-the-turn promotion for constable Raj Kumar.

“He has done a commendable job and such policemen need encouragement. I have recommended his name for a promotion,” said the SSP.
