‘Benam Rishtey’, a Punjabi novel by Jammu and Kashmir-based writer Bhupinder Singh Raina that portrays life of ordinary people of the state, was released here recently.
Before this, Raina wrote two novels, ‘Sadhra Di Dolli’ in 1973 and ‘Dhuankhi Dhup’ in 1975 and two plays, ‘Saver Haun Tak’ and ‘Nirdhan Kau Palley’ in 1976.
Raina said his daughter Rupinder Raj, who is a Hindi writer in Hindi language, inspired him to write the latest novel, which came out nearly 45 years after his last novel ‘Dhuankhi Dhup’. Dr Lakhwinder Singh Gill, Deputy Director, Higher Education, lauded Raina for boldly portraying the sufferings of women in the novel.
Punjabi poet Dev Dard appreciated the narrative aspect of the novel which kept the interest of a reader alive. Deep Davinder Singh, a short story writer, said the story poignantly portrayed the deplorable living condition of the people living during militancy in the Valley.
