The police reached the site upon receiving the information and began scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area. SSP Amritsar Rural Maninder Singh said efforts were on to identify the accused.

Gurinder Singh, the owner of a cloth shop at Chogawan, said he and his family members were sleeping at home when the incident occurred. Around 12:30 am, he heard the gunshots and threats to eliminate him. When he peeped through the window, he saw two motorcycle-borne youths firing shots before speeding away.
