MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal has issued a stern warning that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found involved in the black marketing of fertilisers, especially Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP). He said that the sale of DAP fertiliser at inflated rates will also not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Talking to media persons, Dhaliwal said, “Punjab’s farmers are already financially weak due to the recent floods, and it is extremely unfortunate that some shopkeepers are exploiting them by selling DAP fertiliser at black market prices.”
The MLA said he has received complaints from farmers about dealers charging above the fixed rates, and today he appealed to the fertiliser dealers to stand by the farmers in this hour of distress instead of taking undue advantage of their situation.
Dhaliwal appealed to the dealers to support the farmers. He said, “Do not exploit them when they need our help the most.” He warned that if any complaint of overpricing or black marketing of DAP fertiliser is received in future, strict action will be taken as per law.
He also instructed shopkeepers not to compel farmers to buy unnecessary items along with DAP. Dhaliwal informed that the government-fixed rates are Rs 1,350 for DAP, Rs 1,300 for TSP, Rs 1,900 for NPK and Rs 1,400 for ASP.
