(Briefly) Undertrial escapes from police custody

Tarn Taran: An undertrial escaped from police custody in Patti here on Wednesday. The accused had been identified as Sajjan Singh of Khalra who was booked by Khalra police. Sajjan Singh and constable Sukhkamal Deep Singh have been booked under Sections 222 and 223 of the IPC. Constable Sukhkamal Deep Singh had been arrested for negligence. The police said the constable posted at the Patti sub-jail had brought the accused for his appearance in a court in Patti when he managed to free himself from the handcuffs and escaped.— OC
