BSF foils cross-border smuggling attempts in Punjab, arrests 4

The Border Security Force (BSF) has arrested four smugglers and seized heroin, pistols, ammunition, a drone and motorcycles from different locations in Amritsar and Tarn Taran districts, officials said on Tuesday.

The first incident took place near Bachiwind village in Amritsar on Monday evening, when BSF personnel nabbed a smuggler with 560 grams of heroin, a motorcycle and two mobile phones. He was later handed over to Punjab Police.

In another operation on Tuesday, the BSF, acting on specific intelligence, launched a search in Bagrian village and recovered a DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone. The drone was carrying a pistol, two magazines and three live rounds.

Two more smugglers were also arrested following constant surveillance near the Amritsar–Jalandhar highway. A pistol and 11 live rounds were recovered from their possession. The duo hails from Timowal village in Amritsar and Sarsi Kalan in Tarn Taran.

Later, in a joint operation with the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Amritsar, another smuggler was arrested from Bagrian village. Officials recovered 1.225 kg of heroin, two mobile phones and a motorcycle from him. The accused has been handed over to ANTF for further action.
