BSF foils multiple cross-border smuggling attempts in state

In a series of coordinated intelligence-driven operations over the past 24 hours, the Border Security Force (BSF) thwarted multiple smuggling attempts along the Punjab frontier, arresting four smugglers and recovering heroin, a high-end drone, and firearm components.

In the first operation, acting on precise input from the BSF intelligence wing, troops intercepted two smugglers near Daleri village in Tarn Taran district. During questioning, the duo disclosed the location of a concealed cache where BSF personnel recovered pistol parts, a magazine, and three live rounds. Two mobile phones were also seized. The accused have been handed over to the Punjab Police for further investigation.

In another joint operation based on actionable intelligence shared with Punjab Police, two more smugglers were arrested at Kalanur in Gurdaspur. The teams seized two packets of heroin weighing 2.550 kg (gross) and a motorcycle. The accused, from Haruwal and Ajnala villages, are currently in police custody pending legal proceedings.

Continuing its coordinated crackdown, BSF troops along with Punjab Police launched a search near Wan village in Tarn Taran, leading to the recovery of a DJI Mavic 4 Pro drone believed to have been used for cross-border narcotics drops.

Punjab Police have initiated further legal action in all cases.

According to BSF officials, the sustained operations demonstrate the force’s zero-tolerance policy against cross-border trafficking and its heightened vigilance in vulnerable border regions.
