BSF, Punjab Police arrest two drug peddlers in Amritsar
The Border Security Force (BSF), in a joint operation with Punjab police, have apprehended two drug peddlers who arrived to retrieve a narcotics consignment smuggled from Pakistan here on Friday evening. The BSF seized 475gm of heroin from their possession, along with three mobile phones and a motorcycle without a number plate.
The accused have been identified as Harjinder Singh alias Bhind and Vijay, both residents of Rajatal colony.
The Gharinda police have registered a case under the NDPS Act against them.
In a statement, a BSF spokesman said that at around 7 pm, a BSF ambush party noticed the movements of two suspicious individuals on a bike near the Rajatal border. They were searching for some contraband smuggled from Pakistan. Upon seeing the ambush party, they attempted to flee the spot but were chased by BSF personnel.
“The contraband packet contained the ring which indicates that it was smuggled via drone,” said the BSF.
Sub-Inspector Jasdeep Singh of Gharinda police said that a case under Sections 21-C, 25, 29-61-85 of the NDPS Act was registered against them. He said that the duo was going to supply the drugs and was coming from Daoke border village to Rajatal via the kaccha road along the defense drain.
