BSF, Punjab Police seize explosives, arms in Ajnala

Consignment includes RDX, pistols, grenades, and remote detonation equipment

A day after seizing 2.7kg of high-grade explosive suspected to be RDX, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police, in a joint operation, foiled another attempt to smuggle arms and explosives in Chak Bala village in the Ajnala sector on Sunday.

“On May 10, acting swiftly on information provided by alert locals near village Chak Bala, our teams recovered a consignment of arms and explosives from agricultural fields,” said DGP Gaurav Yadav on X.

The BSF and police recovered 972 gm of RDX, two .30 bore pistols along with four magazines, 30 live rounds, two hand grenades, two live detonators, a remote control device with charger, a command mechanism, eight batteries and a black box from the site.

According to officials, the entire consignment was air-dropped by a drone.

A case has been registered under the Explosive Substances Act, Arms Act and Aircraft Act.

Investigations are underway to trace the handlers and recipients of the consignment.
