In a spirited build-up to one of Punjab’s most anticipated events, Dr Atul Fulzele, Inspector General of the Border Security Force (BSF), Punjab, on Sunday unveiled the second curtain-raiser and teaser of the ‘Bordermen Marathon-2026 – Stride With Pride’ at the iconic Joint Check Post (JCP), Attari.
The launch took place amid a lively gathering of spectators, fitness enthusiasts and senior BSF officers who had assembled at the border to witness the announcement.
The event gained added prominence with the presence of Olympian and Arjuna Awardee Shamsher Singh, a distinguished member of the Indian hockey team. He was felicitated by the IG, BSF, Punjab, for his remarkable achievements on the international stage and for serving as an inspiration to aspiring sportspersons across the country.
Addressing mediapersons, Dr Fulzele urged sports lovers, professional runners and citizens from all walks of life to participate in the marathon scheduled for February 22, 2026. He said the marathon is not just a sporting event but a tribute to the spirit of national unity. Designed as a unique fitness initiative, it aims to foster solidarity with the border guarding forces and extend support to the resilient communities living along India’s frontiers in demanding conditions.
The unveiling at Attari — a symbol of India’s border pride and patriotic fervour — marks a significant step in the countdown to the marathon, which is expected to witness enthusiastic participation from across the region, the IG added.
