Butala village man duped of Rs 24 lakh; case registered

The Beas police have booked four persons, including two women, for allegedly duping a village resident of ~24 lakh on the promise of sending her daughter to the US.
A complaint was lodged with the police on June 19, but a case was registered after the completion of an initial probe by Baba Bakala Deputy Superintendent of Police Sukhwinderpal Singh on Friday.
The accused were identified as Jarnail Singh, his wife Sarabjit Kaur, son Baljit Singh and Sandeep Kaur, all residents of Butala village.
The complainant, Baljit Kaur, a resident of Butala, told the police that the accused took a sum of ~24 lakh on different dates for sending her daughter Rajbir Kaur to the US. But they neither sent her daughter abroad nor returned the money.
A case under Section 420, IPC, and Section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professions Regulation Act was registered.
