Pre-primary sports meet
Amritsar: As part of initiatives being taken by the Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) for the development of sports in its schools, A pre-primary sports meet was organised in Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School, Sultanwind Link Road, where members in-charge, Iqbal Singh Sherry, Swaraj Singh Sham and Amardeep Singh Rajewal, graced the occasion with their presence. School principal Gurpreet Kaur welcomed the guests. After shabad, students presented a welcome song and held the audience spellbound with a giddha-bhangra cultural programme. Students (boys) from playpen to class I participated in rabbit race, frog race, sack race, tug-of-war games while girls performed well in butterfly race, zig-zag race, chatty race, cone race and other interesting games with enthusiasm and joy. The school members in-charge shed light on the importance of sports and said that games help in physical development, strengthening of bones as well as reducing mental anxiety. They also increase self-confidence, teamwork, concentration, enthusiasm and happiness.
IIC conducts motivational session
The Post-Graduate Department of Commerce of DAV College, Amritsar, conducted a motivational session, From Idea to Impact, in collaboration with Institution’s Innovation Council. Priyanka Goyal, executive member of PhD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was the resource person for the event. Goyal enlightened the students with knowledge on entrepreneurship by sharing her experiences and highlighting the varied skills and competencies required to be a successful entrepreneur. The speaker also threw light on how attitude and behaviour of a person affect their entrepreneurial development. She highlighted the importance of self-employment, qualities and the skills required to be an entrepreneur. She also explained the various core entrepreneurial skills by making them to participate in mind related games. Live stories of the entrepreneurs were narrated. Challenges faced by them and how they overcame the hurdles and became successful entrepreneurs were also discussed.
DAV students present annual show
Students of UKG and Class I of DAV Public School presented their annual function ‘Daditude’ on February 13 with zest and enthusiasm. The students sang praise of fathers and beautifully presented classical dances, nukkad natak, mushaira and famous father/child duos, all centred around the theme of fatherhood which promised to be a heart-warming tribute to the fathers who shape our lives and inspire us to be our best selves through their selfless love, dedication and sacrifices. Tushar D Sakhare and Swaraj Grover were the chief guest on the occasion.
Awareness seminar held
An awareness seminar was organised at the Saroop Rani Government College (Women) regarding the ‘Future Tycoon’ programme launched by Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney. Addressing the students and teachers of the college on the occasion, Deputy CEO, District Employment Office, Tirthpal Singh said that the main goal of the ‘Future Tycoon’ programme is to reach out to the common people and provide a platform for their business talent. He said that under the programme, a separate category has been created for women to apply, so that a suitable platform can be provided for those women, who could not realise their business dreams in the past due to any reason. Under the programme, the project that wins the first position in different categories will be given a cash prize of Rs 50,000, second prize of Rs 20,000 and the third prize of Rs 10,000. He said that to carry out this project in a better way, the IIM, Guru Nanak Dev University, Punjab Technical University and PhD Chamber, have also decided to provide all support. He said that the administration has also launched a QR code for the convenience of the people, by scanning which one can register their idea.
