Comm-Fest at KHalsa College

Amritsar: The Commerce Society of PG Department of Commerce and Business Administration, Khalsa College Amritsar (KCA), organised Comm-Fest. Ratinder Kaur Sidhu, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Amritsar, was the chief guest at the event. Dr AK Kahlon, acting principal and Head of the Department, shared the report of Commerce Society and the department with the audience. She congratulated the members of the Commerce Society on organising four major events during the current session. Ratinder Kaur Sidhu motivated students to find employment opportunities in India only. She also encouraged students to become entrepreneurs, which will not only open new career options for them but also generate employment in society. She also encouraged the students to aspire for competitive exams conducted by the government and become a bureaucrat like her. Various competitions such as ad-mad show, debate, poster-making, photography, rangoli, solo dance, group dance, business plan competition and B-Plan Pitch: Poster presentation competitions were organised. More than 350 students actively participated in these competitions.

DAV College organises Open Mic

An Open Mic was organised by the Post-Graduate Department of Mass Communication and Video Production and Print and Social Media Club of DAV College, Amritsar. More than 25 students participated in the event. Addressing the programme, Principal Dr Amardeep Gupta said that such Open Mics provide a platform for the artistic expression of the youth. “Due to hectic lifestyle, the youth do not get time to enhance their hobby or creative ability. This Open Mic organised by the college has tried to give wings to the talent of the youth, which has proved to be very effective,” he said. Tanveer Kaur and Aditya Gautam hosted the programme and mesmerised everyone with their interesting poetry. Head of the department Prof Sandeep Kumar Sharma said that Open Mic is a platform which gives an opportunity to budding poets, storytellers and comedians to showcase their talent. In this programme, budding artists gave an artistic presentation of their poetry, story, comedy, ghazal etc and were applauded by the audience. Open Mic has been very popular in college. The song Gulabi Aankhein Jo Teri Dekhi by Karan Sharma had all the youngsters in splits. While Ajay Kumar sang Punjabi songs, Tanveer Kaur shared his poetry with the audience. The poetry written by Sandeep on infidelity and pain also won a lot of applause. BCA students entertained the students with their comedy and skit.

International Mother Language Day

The International Mother Language Day was organised by the Hindi Department of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Head of the Department and Dean, Faculty of Languages, Prof Sunil Kumar said that the death of a language or dialect means the death of a society or culture. Many dialects and languages ??in the world are going through a crisis of existence. Therefore, one should make a resolution to use more dialects and languages ??and preserve them. “Today, Hindi is one of the most widely spoken languages ??in the world. The interest of all Indian languages ??lies in the prosperity of Hindi and the interest of Hindi is included in the prosperity of all Indian languages. National Education Policy- 2020 is a strong initiative for Hindi and Indian languages,” he said. Two students of Hindi Department, Sunita Mishra and Lakshmi Maurya, were felicitated with certificates and cash.

Green award for SSEC

SSEC, Jandiala Guru received five-star ranking with A++ grade by CED India. In its 12th School Leader Conference, Saint Soldier Elite Convent School was announced as ‘Best School’ in the day school category. The event was held at Hotel Radisson Blu, Dwarka, New Delhi. Dignitaries like Dr Swati Popat Vats, president (ECA), Mansi Mahajan, founder & principal Ujjaval Sprouter, Dr Prabhu Charan Mohanty, Director & Associate Founder and Dr Shahnaz Ahmen, Chairperson, were present. The school report is even published in Touch Education – Indian Educator Magazine, which is a big honour to be recognised at the international level. Dr Mangal Singh Kishanpuri, director of the school, along with principal Amarpreeet Kaur dedicated this award to its faculty, students and stakeholders for meeting every challenge with steadfastness.
