Best-from-Waste competition

Amritsar: The Eco Club of DAV College, Amritsar, in association with Institutions Innovation Council, organised an event on ‘Best-from-Waste’ in zoology lab. The aim of the event was to stimulate the creative skills of the students and make them aware about the environment. Students prepared almost 30 useful products like wall hangings, pen stands, decorative pieces, flower vase etc out of waste material. The students also prepared 20 posters on environment protection and conservation. Principal Dr Amardeep Gupta exhorted the students to participate in such programmes as these events give them a platform to express their hidden talent. Eco Club convener Prof Nihita Sharma, IIC in-charge Manpreet Kaur, Renu Sharma and members of the Eco Club, Prof Gagan, Prof Raghu and Prof Savita were present during the programme.

Annual athletics meet at KCET

The 10th Annual Athletics Meet at Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET), Ranjit Avenue, commenced with great fervour and enthusiasm. The event was marked by various activities and ceremonies that celebrated the spirit of sportsmanship and unity among the students. Dr Manju Bala, Director of KCET, delivered a motivational speech. Dr Bala highlighted the importance of sports in shaping the overall personality of individuals. She congratulated the winners of various events, viz., Best Athlete Girls: Tanya (4th Semester B.Sc-Optometry) and Best Athlete Boys: Raja Babu (4th Semester B.Tech Civil Engineering). Raja Babu (4th Semester B.Tech Civil Engineering) won first position in 100 meters for boys while Tanya (4th Semester B.Sc-Optometry) stood first in the 100 meters race for girls. The 200 meters race for boys was won by Junaid (B.Sc MLS 6th Semester) while Ripu Kumar (2nd Semester B.Tech. Civil Engineering) won 800 meters race for boys. The 200 meters race for girls was won by Prachi (2nd Semester B.Sc-MT) and the 400 meters race for girls was won by Sanjana (4th Semester B.Tech. CSE). Raja Babu (4th Semester B.Tech Civil Engineering) was the winner of long jump event for boys while Anupreet Kaur (4th Semester B.Tech. CSE) won the long jump event for girls. Tarandeep Singh (4th Semester B.Tech Civil Engineering) and Ladli (B.Tech CSE 6th Semester) were declared winners of shot put for boys and girls, respectively.

Junior Athletics Meet

Shri Ram Ashram Public School, The Mall, Amritsar, organised a two-day Junior Athletics Meet for its young students from Playpen to Class I on February 27-28. Principal Dr Vinodita Sankhyan motivated the students as they enjoyed participating in Balance the Ball Race, Fruit Colour Hunt Race, Bucket the Balloon Race, Placing the Ball Race, String the Bead Race, Obstacle Race and Balance the Ball on the Cone Race while the LKG students participated in Kangaroo Race, Hawaiian Race, Mask Obstacle Challenge Race, Juggling Race and Tortoise Race.The UKG students showcased their skills in Pop the Balloon Race, Ball and Cone Race, Relay Race, Pyramid Race, Cap and Hurdle Race and Hen Race. Class I students competed in Balance the Ball Race, Tie and Run Race, Lemon and Spoon Race, Hoopla Crossing Race, Cup Stacking Race and Placing the Ball Race.
