Campus notes: Annual presentation at DAV International
DAV International School, Amritsar, hosted its annual presentation, “The Dream Believers”, of the little angels of UKG class with great enthusiasm and grandeur. The event was a vibrant showcasing of the talent, confidence and creativity of the young learners, leaving the audience mesmerised. The programme commenced with the soulful rendition of the DAV Gaan, which set a serene and inspiring tone for the day. The children’s vibrant energy and coordinated movements were a true reflection of their hard work and the guidance of their mentors. They showed how the children dream differently in different stages of life and need constant support from their elders for the accomplishment of their goals. The chief guest, Rahul Joshi, motivated the young learners with his inspiring words.
Celebrating JEE success
Amritsar: The Senior Study II celebrated the success of their students in JEE Main session I results. Chetna Mundraa, Surayansh Rana, Gauransh Srivastav and Bhavdeep Singh have all scored more than 99 percentile in the exam. “We are proud of our students, who have worked hard to achieve this,” said director Vijay Mehra. “My congratulations to the parents who have given their wards the love and support necessary during this stressful period of exams, results and admissions, which will determine the future of these youngsters,”’ said principal Upasana Mehra.
TCS Leadership Connect
Amritsar: The Directorate of Placement & Career Enhancement organised “TCS Leadership Connect” programme at Guru Nanak Dev University. Varun Kapur, vice-president & Head, Energy, Resource & Utilities UK & Europe, TCS, conducted the interactive session. A significant meeting was held between Dr Karamjeet Singh and Varun Kapur to discuss key areas of collaboration aimed at enhancing student opportunities like internships and skill development. Eight hundred students of computer science, computer engineering, electronics technology, mechanical engineering and civil engineering departments of main campus and regional campuses participated in the programme. Vikas Gupta, Regional Head, Talent Acquisition, North India, TCS and Rajit Sikka, Regional Head, Academic Alliances, North India, TCS accompanied Varun Kapur. Varun Kapur delved into crucial topics like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Data Analytics—fields that are reshaping the future of technology and business.
Spellathon competition
Jalandhar: Mayor World School recently hosted the highly anticipated Inter-House Super Spellathon for students in classes VI to VIII. The event, a quiz centred around the English language, literature, and grammar, featured four participants from each house, resulting in an intense competition across nine rounds. These included spell bee, sense relations, visual quest, linguistic limelight, verbal acrobatics, idioms and proverbs, know your house patrons, word wizard and rapid fire. The spell bee tested spelling accuracy, while the diction round focused on pronunciation. In the visual round, participants identified famous poems and authors from images, while the fun-filled dumb charades tested their knowledge of idioms and proverbs. The rapid fire round added to the excitement with its fast-paced questions. Dickens House emerged victorious, with team members Manya Sachdeva (VIII), Kabir Sood (VIII), Pranavi Grover (VII) and Mehtaab Dhaliwal (VI) securing first place. The vice- principal, Charu Trehan, addressed the students, emphasising how such competitions foster a love for the English language and boost confidence.
Rotaract organises Vision project
Jalandhar: The Rotaract Club of PCM SD College for Women, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Jalandhar and Dr Arora Refina Eye Hospital, launched the ‘Peripheral Vision Self-Test’ project. The initiative aims to detect vision problems early, ensuring timely intervention for students across the district. The Deputy Commissioner, Dr Himanshu Aggarwal, inaugurated the project, stressing the importance of contributing to such meaningful causes. The principal, Dr Pooja Prashar, praised the Rotaract Club for undertaking this commendable initiative, which aims to improve students’ well-being and promote awareness about eye health.
Students get tips for board exam
Jalandhar: The ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ programme, an initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was screened for the students of classes X and XII at Police DAV Public School, PAP Campus. This annual event provides students with important insights into managing board exam-related stress. During the discussion, students had the opportunity to ask the Prime Minister questions, while he offered guidance on nutrition, time management, maintaining a positive attitude and how to reflect on future aspirations. PM Modi also shared tips for parents and teachers on creating a supportive environment. The principal, Dr Rashmi Vij, urged students to give their best without stressing and to trust in their abilities, with prayers for their success in the exams.
