The Student Advisory Committee of Khalsa College for Women (KCW), in collaboration with Rotary Club of the college, hosted a vibrant Basant celebration, marking the arrival of the spring season with zeal and enthusiasm. The event was celebrated with fervour, featuring active participation from the staff and students, all adorned in yellow, the traditional colour symbolising the vibrancy of Basant. The celebration featured a series of exciting competitions for both students and staff. The kite flying competition was a highlight of the day, with Navpreet Kaur of BSc (Fashion Designing) Semester-II taking the first place. Brahmjit Kaur from BCom (Financial Services)–IV secured the second spot, while Muskan Bhalla of BCom (Honours)–IV and Jasmine Kaur of Bachelor of Vocation-II shared the third place. The staff members also joined in the fun, engaging in lighthearted games such as ‘Tongue Twisters’ and ‘Dumb Charades’, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Cancer awareness camp held

World Cancer Day was celebrated by the students of B.Sc of Chief Khalsa Diwan International Nursing College at Primary Health Care Centre, Fatehpur. Dr Yashpreet Kaur, Principal, Chief Khalsa Diwan International Nursing College and Medical Officers Dr Binveen Kaur and Dr Deepika held an awareness campaign against cancer, an extremely dangerous disease. Dr Yashpreet Kaur said that the ability of a patient suffering from cancer to fight the disease depends largely on the patient’s determination. She said there is no doubt that due to the high cost of treatment and the difficulties faced, the patient and his family members are wary of the disease. Dr Deepika said one should speak to the doctor as soon as possible about any changes in the body so that the disease can be identified on time and the right treatment can be started. An exhibition of posters prepared effectively by the students related to cancer was organised on the occasion and detailed information about the symptoms, causes and types of cancer was shared.

GNDU VC launches book

Vice-chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University Prof Karamjeet Singh graced the launch of Dr Balbinder Singh’s book on ‘Theories of Personality’ written in Punjabi language. The event marked a significant moment for the university and in the field of psychology, as it aimed to make complex psychological concepts more accessible to the Punjabi-speaking community. Dr Rupan Dhillon, Head, Department of Psychology, was also present on the occasion and congratulated Dr Balbinder Singh, an Assistant Professor in the department. During the launch, Prof Karamjeet Singh said, “This book is a valuable addition to the field of psychology.” Dr Balbinder Singh’s book provides a overview of various theories of personality—including psychoanalytic, behavioural and humanistic.
