Amritsar: Partap World School organised the prestigious CBSE cluster athletic meet titled “OORJA”, bringing together more than 1,500 athletes from over 300 schools across North India. The three-day event witnessed athletic competitions, starting with an inspiring opening ceremony attended by Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Regional Officer of CBSE Chandigarh, as the chief guest. Shiv Kumar, Maharaja Ranjeet Singh Awardee and chief coach of Punjab Police and Aparna, Principal of GNDU College.
School marks Hindi Divas
Amritsar: Hindi Divas was celebrated at Excelsum High Senior Secondary School. Observed on September 14, the day marks the adoption of Hindi as an official language of India in 1949. The event featured students sharing poems, speeches and a vibrant nukkad natak, emphasising the use of Hindi in everyday life. Director-Principal Gunita Grewal encouraged students to embrace and promote Hindi, ensuring that its rich legacy continues to live.
Cleanliness drive at DAV School
Amritsar: DAV Public School, Lawrence Road, celebrated the Swachhta Pakhwada, a fortnight-long cleanliness drive from September 1 to 15. The school organised many activities under this endeavour. The aim of the drive was to promote cleanliness, hygiene and environmental awareness among students, parents, teachers and staff. The students were made aware of proper hand washing techniques, importance of personal hygiene and sanitation practices. They were also sensitised about the significance of water conservation, ways to reduce water waste and rainwater harvesting. Principal Pallavi Sethi addressed the assembly. She urged the staff and students to adopt practices such as conservation, preservation, reduce, reuse and recycle.
Robotics workshop
Amritsar: A three-day hands-on workshop titled “Robotics Workshop, Kick-start Your Robotics Journey: Beginner’s Workshop on Robotics” was held at Golden Jubilee Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of Guru Nanak Dev University. The workshop aimed to provide foundational knowledge and practical experience in robotics, drawing enthusiastic participation from 40 students across various departments. Rajdeep Singh Sohal, Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics Technology, led the workshop sessions. He was supported by Ishan Sehgal and Kanish Arora, BTech. Sohal introduced essential robotics concepts, virtual machines with a focus on the robot operating system. He said such workshops will be beneficial for electronics, computer science, and mechanical engineering students.
Engineers’ Week marked
Amritsar: The Engineers’ Week celebration was organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Guru Nanak Dev University. The students of BTech and MTech (AI and Robotics, five year integrated programme) enthusiastically showcased their technical skills, creativity and talent in a range of competitions, including AI and Robotics based project making and 3D printing during this programme. The highlight of this week was an expert talk by Kuldeep Singh, focusing on the recent trends in AI and Robotics. The talk offered valuable insights into emerging technologies, the future of automation and the potential impact of AI and robotics on various engineering disciplines. The students had the opportunity to engage in discussions and explore the cutting-edge advancements reshaping the engineering landscape.
Student excels in university exams
Amritsar: Navpreet Singh of DAV College secured the first position in the district in MCom (Semester 2), by scoring 8.41 CGPA. He secured the third position in the university merit list. Principal Amardeep Gupta congratulated the student for his glorious achievements and wished him a bright future and success. The principal also lauded the untiring efforts of the Department of Commerce for making these outstanding results possible.
