Amritsar: The Governor’s visit for centenary celebrations of Shri Ram Educational Society mark a significant milestone. The grand concluding ceremony of this centennial celebration will be held on September 26, at Shri Ram Ashram Public School, with the Governor of Punjab, Gulab Chand Kataria, presiding over the event. Principal Vinodita Sankhayan said Shri Ram Educational Society was founded in 1923 by Acharya Sunder Singh in response to the nationalist movement, particularly the Non-Cooperation Movement led by Mahatma Gandhi and Jallianwala Bagh tragedy of 1919 in Amritsar. Shri Ram Ashram High School was the first co-educational School in North India. The principal and Sanjay Mahajan, CAO, recently met Governor Gulab Chand Kataria at Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh.

Students win Business Quiz

Amritsar: Spring Dale students won the national-level quiz competition during the current session. Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, Chairman, Spring Dale Educational Society, said the school’s quiz team has won the prestigious ‘17th Kirloskar Business Quiz’ held at Lawrence School, Sanawar. The school team — Raghuvansh Wadhwa, Bismaan Singh and Rohan Behl — was guided by their mentor Neeru Issar. They won the coveted title while competing with the 12 best schools qualified from all across the country, including Lawrence School (Sanawar), Bishop Cotton School (Shimla), Auckland House School (Shimla), Army Public School (Dagshai), YPS (Patiala), etc. Principal Rajiv Kumar Sharma proudly shared that the school team won the prestigious quiz competitions at the national-level.

BBK DAV students excel in exams

Amritsar: Students of BBK DAV College for Women excelled in the GNDU examinations. Nagma of BVoc Entertainment (Semester IV) secured 91.4 per cent and stood first in the university; Rakshita of BVoc Entertainment (Semester IV) secured 87.8 per cent and stood second in the university exams. Principal Pushpinder Walia congratulated the students and faculty members for their brilliant performance and encouraged them to uphold their performance in the future as well. Simardeep, Dean, Academics; Kiran Gupta, Dean, Admissions; Sanjeev Sharma, Head, PG Department of Multimedia, also blessed the students for their upcoming ventures.

Extension Lecture on Hindi Divas

Amritsar: Swami Swatantranand Memorial College, Dinanagar, organised an extension lecture on the occasion of Hindi Divas to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and significance of the language. The event aimed to promote the use and importance of Hindi among students, fostering a deeper connection to the language and its literary tradition. Principal RK Tuli welcomed eminent luminaries Padam Shree Awardee Harmohinder Singh Bedi, Chairman, Central University of Himachal, Dharamsala, and Naresh Kumar, Department of Punjabi and Dogri, Central University of Himachal, Dharamsala. Addressing the gathering, Tuli emphasised the importance of Hindi as a unifying force and encouraged students to continue celebrating the language.

Certificate Programme on Banking

Amritsar: The Post-Graduate Department of Commerce and Business Administration, Khalsa College, Amritsar, organised the valedictorian function of ‘Certificate Programme on Banking, Finance and Insurance Sector’ in collaboration with Bajaj Finserv Ltd. The programme was a part of the MoU signed between the college and the company to impart practical training and essential skills to the students with a view to create employment opportunities for them in banking, finance and insurance sector. The programme was planned and executed under the supervision of Principal Mehal Singh and Dean AK Kahlon. Kanwaljit Singh, lead trainer, applauded the engaging behaviour of the students towards the course. Ajay Sehgal presented the progress report of the programme. He said 43 students successfully completed the course, of which 34 were awarded as star performers.
