Campus notes: Class XII students given farewell
Amritsar: Students, staff and management of DAV Public school, Lawrence Road bid farewell to the outgoing students of Class XII. Filled with curiosity and zeal, the farewell ceremony was organised by students and teachers of Class XI on February 6 at the Urvi Auditorium. The day was a fiesta devoted to the years spent together with friends and teachers to reminisce joyous moments. The function commenced with a speech by Principal Dr Pallavi Sethi, who passed on the light of wisdom to students of Class XII. Title of Mr DAV went to Yajur Talwar, Ms DAV to Tia Kapoor while Mr Congeniality title was won by Gurcharanpreet Singh and Ms Congeniality title was bagged by Jasnoor Kaur. Special category awards titled “Real Life Heroes” were given to Vikhayat and Kunal Handa during the ceremony.
Students Excel in Pencak Silat
Students of Khalsa College have brought laurels by their brilliant performance in the All India Inter University Pencak Silat Games organized at Guru Nanak Dev University. Principal Dr Mehal Singh, while congratulating the team and Sports Department head Dr Daljit Singh said 550 players from 45 different universities from across the country participated in the competition. He said their students Manavdeep won gold in 90 to 95 kg weight category, Deepak won silver in 95 to 100 kg, Sumit Gautam won gold in 45 to 50 kg, Somnath won gold in 55 to 60 kg. Apart from this, Krishna, Ram Chandra and Arid won two gold and one gold medals, respectively.
Shri RAm ashram hosts farewell
Shri Ram Ashram Senior Secondary School (ICSE & ISC affiliated) organised a farewell to bid adieu to the outgoing batch of grade XII. The students of grade XI presented a cultural bonanza to exhibit their affection and regard for the seniors. An array of song and dance performances mesmerized all. Tushar Sharma and Arushi Mahajan were chosen as Mr. and Ms. Ashramite. Vinay Singh Thakur and Sanchita Sharma got selected as Mr and Ms Mode. Madhav Arora and Nikita Nirala became Mr Stalwart and Ms Elegant. Principal Neetu Sharma, in her address urged the students to aim high, embrace responsibilities wholeheartedly as they embark on the new business of life.
ANNUAL FUNCTION organised
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan SL Public School organised the grand baby show and annual function today on its premises. Major General Jasbir Kaur Grewal was present as the guest of honour on the occasion. Among other dignitaries, educationist Kiran Joshi, Vanita Mohindru, headmistress of Bhavans II and
Dr Aanchal Pasricha was also present to boost morale of the tiny tots. Children from all over the city participated in the show, which was categorised into different groups of kids of 2-3 years, 3-4 years and 4-5 years, respectively. The babies gave dance performances and sang melodious songs of their own choice. All participants were given certificates and special gifts. Attractive prizes were also given to winners of various categories.
NCC cadet felicitated
Anmoldeep Singh, a NCC Air Force wing cadet and a student of DAV College, who participated in the Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path at New Delhi, was felicitated by management on reaching the college on Wednesday. Principal Dr Amardeep Gupta said his selection not only brings honour for the college, but also makes him the only boy cadet from Amritsar to participate in the Republic Day Parade. NCC officer Prof Sanjiv Dutta lauded his efforts and relentless support provided by the institution.
