DAV College for Women

Amritsar: Students of BBK DAV College for Women excelled in the GNDU examinations. Chahat, a student of BVoc in software development (semester VI), got who 89.6 per cent, stood first in the university, followed by Yuvika of BVoc in software development, semester IV, (86 per cent) and Ridhima of BCA, semester VI, (87.3 per cent), who secured the second positions. Priyanka of BCA, semester VI, (85.2 per cent) stood fifth in the university examinations. Principal Pushpinder Walia congratulated the students and faculty members on their achievement and encouraged them to uphold their performances in the future as well.

Khalsa College

Amritsar: Khalsa College has won the Guru Nanak Dev University's ‘Overall general championship trophy-2023-24’ in men's sports for the fourth consecutive time. Principal Mehal Singh said, “The college's performance in all sports events has been extraordinary, making it eligible for the trophy.” Secretary of Khalsa College’s governing council Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina congratulated the principal, staff and students, saying that the college had established new records of sorts by winning the trophy for the fourth year. He also congratulated Daljit Singh, the head of the sports department. Mahal said in the championship, around 400 players from all across India had participated and showcased their brilliance in sports. He said the students participated in 29 sports events, including athletics, basketball, taekwondo, archery rowing, boxing, karate, judo, volleyball, cycling track, fencing, dragon boat, gymnastics, handball, kayaking, swimming and water polo.

Amritsar: Global Group of Institutes held the ‘Global badminton tournament season II-2024’ at its campus on Friday. The tournament is played on knock out basis, in which teams from different departments participate and vie for honours and win the championship. In the season-II of the tournament, eight teams of boys and six teams of girls representing various departments took part in the competition and displayed their sporting talent on the courts. TNS
