Angel's Public School students bid farewell to class XII

Amritsar: The farewell for class XII students was held at Angel’s Public School, Mamun, Pathankot, with an address from Principal Sheetal Katoch. She urged students to balance their ambitions with expectations from family and society. The event was a heartfelt send-off, filled with performances that ranged from a Hindi choir to dynamic bhangra and touching band melodies, depicting the vibrant school life. The crowning ceremony added a special touch, accompanied by messages from the graduating class that reflected on their cherished school moments and the indelible mark that the school left on their hearts.

Annual sports festival

The two-day long ‘Annual Sports Festival 2024-25’ was organised at Khalsa College, Chawinda Devi. More than 800 students from 20 different schools participated. Principal Dr Gurdev Singh said Satya Bharti School, Fatthubhila, and Holy Word School jointly won the overall trophy. Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary School, Gopalpura, and Struggling School, Waryam Nangal, won the second overall trophy and Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Abdal and Baba Bir Singh Public School, Mattewal won the third position. He earlier welcomed the chief guest, former Head of the Sports Department of Guru Nanak Dev University, Dr Sukhdev Singh, by presenting a bouquet of flowers. On the occasion, Dr Sukhdev Singh motivated the students to move forward in the field of sports without fear or hesitation.

Seminar at KCA

The post-graduate Department of Commerce and Business Administration, Khalsa College, Amritsar (KCA) organised a workshop-cum-special survey drive on “Effective Sales and Marketing Strategies for Entrepreneurs/Start-ups under GST Regime” by the office of the Assistant Commissioner, State Tax, Amritsar-1, in collaboration with Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC). The workshop was planned and executed under the supervision of acting principal Dr AK Kahlon. The commerce students underwent field training under GST inspectors where they learnt the practical aspects of GST such as computation, passing a variety of transactions, creating reports, adjusting input tax credit and making GST payments. Around nine students from the commerce department participated in the training programme.

Shri Ram Ashram hosts farewell

Shri Ram Ashram Public School was abuzz with vibrant energy and emotions on Tuesday as the students of Class XI came together to host a grand farewell titled, ‘Farewell Fiesta’, for their seniors of Class XII. The outgoing students were warmly welcomed by their juniors and teachers, setting the tone for an evening filled with nostalgia and celebration. The event was a heartfelt tribute to the cherished years spent together, reliving joyous moments of camaraderie and learning. A captivating Western dance, a comic role-play depicting the journey of a school-going child, an engaging tongue-twister challenge, soulful musical performances, and an electrifying bhangra display. Principal Dr Vinodita Sankhyan motivated the students to pursue their dreams with determination and resilience, wishing them success in all their future endeavours.

GNDU cricket tournament

Guru Nanak Dev University successfully organised the Inter-Department Cricket (Girls) Tournament as part of the FIT India Programme initiated by the Government of India. The competition was held from February 6-11. A total of nine girls’ teams from various departments actively participated in the tournament, showcasing talent and sportsmanship among the participants. The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of Prof Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, Dean of Students Welfare and Dr Amrinder Singh, Head of the MYAS Department of Sports Science and Medicine, along with Dr Amandeep Singh, teacher in-charge, GNDU campus Sports Nodal Officer, who presented trophies to the winning teams. MYAS Department of Sports Science and Medicine won the first place while the Department of Political Science stood second and the Department of Computer Engineering & Technology came third. The Department of Physics ranked fourth.
