Campus notes: Friendship day celebrated

Amritsar: Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Tarn Taran, organised activities for primary wing students on International Friendship Day. The school organised a range of activities that encouraged students to come together and celebrate the spirit of friendship. Food sharing activity was conducted for the students of classes II and III. They learned the importance of sharing, to be patient and considerate to each other’s needs. The students of Class IV crafted hand-made friendship bands. A bouquet craft activity was conducted for the students of Class V. All the students participated with great enthusiasm and zeal, creating an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie. The school management and principal appreciated the students’ creativity. The principal stressed that the students should create an atmosphere of co-operation and camaraderie.

Orientation ceremony
Amritsar Group of Colleges hosted an orientation ceremony-cum-student induction programme for its incoming batch of first-year undergraduate students. The event, held at Guru Ramdas Auditorium, saw the participation of 1,527 freshers. The ceremony was graced by the presence of college dignitaries, Registrars, Deans, department heads and faculty members. The ceremony provided the students with a comprehensive introduction to college life. Interactive sessions allowed freshers to familiarise themselves with various aspects of the institution, including academic programmes, extracurricular activities, campus facilities and support services. Chairman Amit Sharma emphasised the importance of holistic education, stating, “At AGC, we don’t just impart knowledge, we shape future leaders. Our goal is to nurture not only your academic prowess but also your character and life skills.”

Academic exhibition
The fifth edition of the academic exhibition titled ‘Reel to Real’ for classes VI-IX and ‘Temple Tales’ for classes III-V was presented by students of Cambridge International school, Amritsar.. The primary objective of the presentation was to explore the relationship between film (reel) and reality (real), examining how cinematic portrayals influence and reflect real-world and societal issues and a comprehensive exploration of religious architecture, cultural heritage, and historical significance of our temples. The documentaries of the students of the primary wing on divine places like Gurdwara Shri Shaheedan Sahib, Shri Jagannath Puri and Ram Mandir provided valuable insights into the historical, architectural and cultural dimensions of these sacred spaces. These apprised the audience with amazing and unknown facts reflecting that beyond grandeur lies a world of secrets waiting to be unveiled. ‘The Temple Tales’ echoed the message that heritage is the foundation of our future. It helps us build the strengths of the past and create a more meaningful and connected future. Principal Shveta Aggarwal thanked the audience for joining the event and felicitated the teachers and students.

Session on traffic awareness
In a proactive move towards enhancing road safety and fostering responsible commuting, Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET), Ranjit Avenue, launched traffic awareness session by Traffic Police Commissionerate, Amritsar. The campaign, organised by the Traffic Education Cell, aimed to instil a sense of responsibility and adherence to traffic rules among the college community. This session was a part of the orientation programme for college freshers. Students engaged in lively conversation about the significance of traffic laws, safe driving techniques and the far-reaching repercussions of breaking them. Director, KCET, Manju Bala, conveyed her gratitude to the spokesperson of the event, Sub Inspector Daljeet Singh and Salwant Singh. While addressing she asserted that it is the high time to make the youth about aware about rules regarding traffic management as negligence and rash driving is one of the major causes of deaths in India.
