Tarn Taran: Universal Academy, Tarn Taran, organised a special assembly on Monday to commemorate the birth anniversary of Guru Harkrishan, the eighth Sikh Guru. The assembly aimed to spread awareness about Guru Harkrishan’s selfless service and devotion to humanity. The assembly began with a prayer and a rendition of Shabads (hymns) highlighting his compassion and kindness. The ceremony aimed to empower young minds with leadership responsibilities and foster a sense of accountability. The ceremony saw the induction of student council members, who were adorned with badges and sashes. The newly appointed leaders pledged to work diligently for the betterment of the school and community. Principal Jasbeer Kaur Sidhu, emphasised the importance of Guru Harkrishan’s teachings and encouraged the students to follow his path of selfless service.

Sahil shines in MCom 4th semester

Amritsar: Students of MCom Semester IV of DAV College, Amritsar, made the college proud by proving their brilliance in university exams. Sahil brought laurels to the college by securing second position in district and fourth position in Guru Nanak Dev University merit list. He has secured 1748 marks out of 2200. Principal Dr Amardeep Gupta congratulated the student as well as the teachers for their hard work and showered his blessings on Tanveer to be successful in future as well. Prof Ullas Chopra, Head of Commerce Department, applauded the student on her brilliant performance in exams, wished him bright future and appreciated the sincere efforts of the staff.

Gurpurb celebrated

Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School celebrated the birth anniversary of Guru Harkrishan Sahib on July 27. To encourage the students towards devotional activities, Kirtan ‘Shabad Gayan’ inter-class competition was organised under the supervision of Music Teachers. Student of Class X Gurleen Kaur recited poem related to the life of the Eighth Guru. Students and teachers also recited ‘Japji Sahib’, ‘Chaupai Sahib’, ‘Mool Mantar’ and did ‘Ardaas’ for seeking blessings of the Almighty. Melodious Kirtan performance filled the air with divine vibration. Harpal Singh, divinity teacher apprised the students about the life history of Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib. The parshaad of Ladoos were distributed among students. The school management and Principal encouraged the students in order to maintain the religious spark among them.

CBSE Workshop organised

Teacher learning is a continuous process that promotes teachers’ teaching skills, to master new concepts and to develop new proficiency. To keep the teachers updated, a two day CBSE workshop on “Strengthening Assessment and Evaluation” was organized in Bhavans. The workshop was conducted by Dapinder Kaur (Principal, Sri Guru Harkrishan International School) and Jyoti Bagga , CBSE educator. Director, Principal Dr. Anita Bhalla warmly welcomed the resource persons by presenting the planters. The main objective of the session was to sensitize teachers on the topics of assessment and evaluation that are relevant in the current scenario. The resource persons focused on different assessment and evaluation techniques based on Bloom’s Taxonomy. This helped educators to stay updated to plan their lessons in a better way. Overall the session was very informative. At the end, all the participants of the workshop were awarded certificates.

Gargi excels with 82% marks

A student of BCom Financial Services Semester VI of PCM SD College for Women has excelled in the GNDU examinations. Gargi distinguished herself by securing the first position in the university with a score of 1,696 (82.73%) out of 2,050 marks. This outstanding achievement has made the institution proud as president Naresh Budhia, senior vice-president Vinod Dada and Principal Prof Pooja Prashar have extended their heartfelt congratulations to Gargi and wished her continued success in her future endeavors.

Orientation Programme

Lajpat Rai Library, DAV College, organised a orientation programme aimed to familiarise new students with the library, extensive resources and services. An eight-day long event, which attracted a diverse group of attendees, was held in the library. It started with students of Class XI and was followed by all Under Graduate Classes such as B.Com, B.Sc, BAJMC, BFST, BBA and BA. Principal Rajesh Kumar inaugurated the programme and said that the goal is to ensure that each and every library visitor feels at home and knows how to make the most of library resources and services. The college library is always available to support patron’s learning, research and recreational needs. He said DAV College Library has a huge collection of over 2 lakh books. The books are made available to the meritorious and underprivileged students free of cost under the book bank scheme of library, he added.

Books distributed for free

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya has commenced Book Bank which operates under the aegis of the Department of Student Welfare. KMV Book Bank is a remarkable initiative of Department of Student Welfare under which each semester students distributes free of cost books to the students in order to facilitate the students. This book bank is a regular feature at KMV and it will continue for 10 days so that no student who is in the need of books should be left out. It is pertinent to mention that this semester more than 500 books have been distributed. Students deposit the syllabus oriented books of their previous classes in the Book Bank and those who want to use the books can collect them from the Book Bank without a need to buy them. /OC
