Campus notes: Hari Om Tops in BSc IT Exam
Hari Om, a student of DAV College Amritsar, has been declared the District Topper in the BSc IT first semester examination. He secured an impressive 7.75 SGPA. Principal Dr Amardeep Gupta congratulated Hari Om and praised the efforts of the student and the staff members of the Department of Computer Science. Prof Vikram Sharma, Head of the Computer Department, mentioned that while Hari Om had previously secured a merit position within the college, this was the first time he topped the university. He acknowledged Hari Om's hard work and the strong results that followed. Aiming to become an IAS officer, Hari Om credited his teachers and college principal for his success. “I have been regular in class, and my teachers have guided me throughout,” he stated.
Honest Corner for Book Lovers Amritsar: The Library Department of DAV College, Amritsar, has introduced a new reading corner known as the “Honest Corner.” This unique initiative allows students to borrow books for reading on their own, without requiring assistance from the library staff. Principal Dr Amardeep Gupta inaugurated the corner and shared that this effort aims to motivate students to engage in reading in an age where mobile phones dominate and reading habits are declining. Prof Kamal Kishore, the Library in Charge, highlighted that this initiative is part of the library's ongoing efforts to encourage students to visit the library daily and foster a love for reading.
Sikh Education Board Amritsar: Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) has received approval from Akal Takht Sahib to establish the Sikh Education Board, aimed at preserving Sikh religion, culture, and Gurmat education. The first meeting to discuss the establishment was held at the Diwan’s head office, where members discussed the necessary resources, objectives, goals, and challenges in forming the board. CKD President Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar emphasised the importance of the Sikh Education Board to connect youth with Sikh morality, principles, and history alongside academic education. The meeting also focused on including new courses, preparing official policies, drafting affiliation procedures, and budgeting. The board will seek the support of world-class educational experts, Sikh universities, and institutions to create a strong education system for the new generation. The goal is to offer modern technical education while instilling moral strength in the youth. Efforts to implement the plans and outline for the Sikh Education Board will be intensified soon.
