National Sub-Junior Table Tennis Championship was organised by the Table Tennis Federation of India from January 30 to February 7 at Abhay Prashal Stadium, Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The event witnesses participation of a large number of players from all states. Satvik Sharma and Trijal Vohra of Luvdale Table Tennis Academy, Amritsar, competed in the Under-13 age-group category and were awarded a bronze medal for their outstanding performance. Their victory has brought immense pride to Amritsar city and the Academy. Describing the achievement, their coach, Sarthak, who is himself a national player, dedicated the win to the hard work and motivation of the boys and their parents who had always supported their passion. He was also grateful to Luvdale Academy for providing world class table tennis infrastructure to the children of Amritsar.

Avni Chabbra shines in swimming

A student of Montessori Cambridge School, Pathankot, Avni Chabbra, a Class XI student, has won a bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke event at the 38th National Games held in Uttarakhand. Her exceptional performance at the national-level competition showcases her dedication, perseverance and commitment to excellence in swimming. Competing against some of the best athletes from across the country, Avni displayed remarkable skill and determination, securing a place on the podium. A special felicitation ceremony was held at MCS, Pathankot, where she was congratulated by Chairman Vinod Mahajan, vice-chairman Akash Mahajan, and principal Rashmi Ahluwalia. Speaking about her victory, Avni expressed gratitude to her coaches, teachers and family for their unwavering support. “Winning a medal at the National Games is a dream come true. The achievement motivates me to work even harder for future competitions,” she said.

Felicitation of NCC cadets

A felicitation ceremony for NCC cadets from Amritsar, who participated in the Republic Day camp at New Delhi, was organised on February 7 at Group Headquarters, Amritsar. Brigadier KS Bawa, Group Commander, Amritsar, along with the Commanding Officers of the NCC units of Amritsar group, presided over the function. Cadet Jagroop Singh and Cadet Harshpreet Singh were honoured for participating in the PM’s Guard of Honour, Cadet Aryan for being part of the NCC team on duty, Cadet Armanbir, Cadet Krishna Kumar, Cadet Sanchit Katoch, Cadet Hardik Vats, Cadet Navneet Kaur and Cadet Krishna Kridas for participating in PM’s rally, Cadet Kritika and Cadet Gurjant Singh were awarded for cultural programmes. Cadet Muskan, Cadet Sanjeevani Singh, Cadet Navjot Kaur, Cadet Jashanpreet Kaur, Cadet Roshni as well as CTO Renu Bala of 1 Punjab (G) Battalion, NCC, CTO (Care Taker Officer) were felicitated for their participation in the Special National Unity Camp held in New Delhi. Brigadier KS Bawa, Group Commander, Amritsar, emphasised that NCC is an important institution for shaping youth into disciplined, responsible and patriotic citizens.

Training camp at Khalsa College

A day-long training camp was organised by Khalsa College at its Farmer Training Centre. Executive Principal of the college, Dr Arvinder Kahlon said that farmers from Kala Kot in district Rajouri from Jammu and Kashmir participated in the said training programme. Jaswinder Singh Bhatia, Agriculture Information Officer of the training centre, said that during the programme, the students were made to plant mushrooms. He said that the training course related to honey bee rearing and preparation of manure from vermicomposting. Along with this, practical training was given to the trainees.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP

Jalandhar: The NSS Unit of DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology, in collaboration with KVIEWS and Blood Bank Amritsar, organised a blood donation camp. Around 100 units of blood were donated by enthusiastic students. The camp aimed to raise awareness about voluntary blood donation and promote social responsibility among youth. Dr Sudhir Sharma, Officiating Principal, praised the students and faculty for their dedication, emphasising that blood donation saves lives and helps maintain a stable supply for medical emergencies. Dr Ashok Kumar, NSS Coordinator, appreciated the students’ enthusiasm and encouraged continued participation in such initiatives. The event was attended by dignitaries including Ravi Mahajan (PRO KVIEWS), Dr Anum (Medical Officer), and lab technicians Suman, Pahul Preet Kaur, Munish Kumar, and Ranjana. Also present were esteemed faculty members Dr Kaushik, Dr Rajni Sharma, Dr Neeru Sharma, and Dr Aman Maini. The camp concluded on a positive note, reinforcing DAVIET’s commitment to social welfare and inspiring more students to contribute to humanitarian efforts.

Maths Activity

Eklavya School celebrated a mathematics activity to help students appreciate subject and build their confidence in it. Maths activity is designed to develop critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills. Students of Class 2 and Class 3 participated in various activities such as Addition and Subtraction Bingo, Shapes recognition, Action Addition and Subtraction, Maths Twister and Shape Scavenger. Maths becomes fun when it is interactive, said Chairman of Eklavya School, JK Gupta, adding that these games introduce a fresh dimension to learning, allowing students to engage with mathematical concepts playfully. Director of Eklavya School Seema Handa said that these activities encouraged the students to extrapolate beyond the information they receive in class.

Expert Talk held

Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Rama Mandi, hosted an enriching and insightful expert talk for its BTech, BCA, and MCA students. The session was organised by the Engineering Club. The resource person for the session was Mukesh Kumar, Principal Software Engineer at Microsoft India (R&D) Private Limited. With his vast experience in the technology sector, Kumar shared valuable insights on the critical skills required for securing placements in today’s competitive job market. Kumar discussed a variety of topics ranging from the skills demanded by service-based and product-based companies to the nuances of navigating interviews and assessments. He emphasised the importance of a balanced development of Knowledge, Attitude, Skills, and Habits (KASH), highlighting how these elements collectively shape a successful career. The session covered key aspects of preparing for placements, including the types of technical and soft skills expected, and the best practices for performing well in interviews. Dr Rajesh Bagga encouraged all the students to remain committed to learning and to keep honing their skills to stay ahead in the competitive world.
