Campus notes: Memorial service for Sahibzadas
Amritsar: The Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) organised a memorial service to mark the martyrdom of four Sahibzadas at Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, GT Road. A light and sound show, ‘Wah Pargatio Mard Agamra’, dedicated to the unparalleled martyrdom of Mata Gujar Kaur and the four Sahibzadas was organised where Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar, president of Chief Khalsa Diwan, attended as the chief guest. Directed by Narinder Sanghi, this ‘Light and Sound’ show depicted the life story of Sri Guru Gobind Singh, the tortured black nights of Mata Gujar Kaur, the Jang-e-Maidan performed by the elder Sahibzadas, Baba Ajit Singh and Baba Jujhar Singh. Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar urged the students to be proud of the martyrdom-filled history and heritage of the Sikh community and to instill in them the pride, self-respect and religion of the four Sahibzadas. He hoped that the lively presentation of Sikh history on stage by the students would put the Guru’s teachings into practice. It will prove to be more helpful and effective in giving shape to his ideals.
Art exhibition at Shri Ram Ashram
Amritsar: The annual craft exhibition ‘Kala Yatra’ was hosted by Shri Ram Ashram Public School. Gracing the occasion as the chief guests were IPS Vineet Ahlawat, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Amritsar East, and Dr Vishwa Bandhu, former principal of DAV College, Phillaur, and secretary of the Service Club, Amritsar. The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Principal Dr Vinodita Sankhyan extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries and highlighted the school’s accomplishments. The cultural programme began with a vibrant dance performance by the young students which captivated the audience. The event also featured a traditional Malwai Giddha showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Punjab.
Goodwill International School
Amritsar: Goodwill International School organised a special assembly on Christmas eve. The kids of pre-primary section presented a beautiful carol singing and dance show by wearing Santa Claus outfit. Chandni, the host teacher of the show, presented a Christmas song and gave a message of peace, love and compassion to the students. Principal Amandeep Singh also gave concluding remarks about the preachings of Jesus Christ. Director Principal Jasbinder Kaur appreciated the teachers and students.
