Amritsar: A seven-day NSS special camp was inaugurated at DAV College Amritsar by Principal Dr Amardeep Gupta in the Lohgarh area. In his inaugural address, Dr Gupta emphasised the significance of such camps in making education more relevant to the community's needs and providing students with practical exposure. The camp, centred around the theme 'Swachh Bharat,' aims to raise awareness on issues such as digital India, communal harmony, water conservation, environmental cleanliness and women's education and empowerment. Following the inauguration, Dr Gupta flagged off a tree plantation drive, and NSS Officer Prof. Savita outlined the camp's objectives. Volunteers also distributed plants in the local Lohgarh area as part of their community engagement.
Mela Fest
Amritsar: Excelsum High School, under the leadership of Director Principal Gunita Grewal, hosted a vibrant Mela Fest that attracted over 3,000 attendees. The event featured a wide range of attractions, including a children's ramp walk, games, rides, food stalls, live music and tattoo stations. The safety of participants was a top priority, with dedicated teams of doctors, fire brigade services and enhanced security measures ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience. The festival was a true celebration of community spirit, creativity, and togetherness, with attendees already looking forward to future editions of this grand event.
Youth leadership awards
Pathankot: The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) 2024 event was held at Partap World School (PWS), Pathankot, bringing together over 100 participants from across North India for three days of leadership development and community building. The inaugural ceremony was attended by DGE Rtn Rohit Oberoi and other dignitaries. The first day featured dynamic sessions focused on personal growth and professional development, providing the youth with valuable insights. Director Sunny Mahajan expressed pride in hosting the event, which he believed would unlock the leadership potential of the young participants.
Human Rights Day
Amritsar: BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, celebrated International Human Rights Day with a series of activities organised by the college’s NSS unit. Events included an oath-taking ceremony and a slogan-writing competition, emphasising the importance of respecting and protecting human rights. Principal Dr Pushpinder Walia highlighted the vital role human rights play in the progress of a nation, urging everyone to pledge their commitment to upholding these rights for a better society.
Placement Drive
Amritsar: Global Group of Institutes recently hosted a successful internship-cum-placement drive, offering placement opportunities to five B.Tech students from its campus. Software development companies Nth Bit Labs and Ant Creatives provided placement offers to students in Computer Science Engineering. Vandana, Monika Sharma, and Sujjan Sasmal were selected by Ant Creatives, while Vikash Kumar and Suraj Kumar received offers from Nth Bit Labs. The selected students will receive annual packages ranging from Rs 3 to 5 lakh. Dr. Akashdeep Singh Chandi, Vice Chairman of the Global Group of Institutes, congratulated the students and commended the efforts of the Training and Placement Cell in preparing students for the industry.
Silver jubilee celebrated
Jalandhar: St Soldier Divine Public School, Bhogpur, celebrated its silver jubilee. Group Chairman Anil Chopra and vice-Chairperson Sangeeta Chopra were present as the chief guests. They were welcomed by School Director Amrik Singh, Principal Chander Jyoti and other staff.
