Amritsar: Taking the concept of a “Sustainable Development” in its true essence, the young environment enthusiasts at Spring Dale, today in association with the Bharat Soka Gakkai (BSG) hosted an exhibition to initiate a nationwide campaign towards environmental conservation. Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, Chairman, Spring Dale Educational Society shared that as a part of its community outreach program Spring Dale Senior School took initiative to be a part of the sensitisation campaign spearheaded by the Delhi based organisation, BSG and the campaign kick started with a two days exhibition called “Seeds Of Hope & Action” displaying the Sustainable Development Goals termed as “SDG” by Bharat Soka Gakkai (BSG). Sharing information about the BSG, Sandhu said this is an Indian affiliate of the global association called Soka Gakkai working in 192 countries for the promotion of peace and sustainability. Principal Rajiv Kumar Sharma said the community outreach programme of the school has been working effectively over the years with help of the system of ‘Clubs’ and ‘Houses’ in the school where the students plan and undertake the projects which are productive and useful for the community.
Goodwill School hosts Van Mahotsav
The eco-club of the Goodwill International school organised a Van Mahotsav on the school campus. The flower beds already allotted to various classes were cleaned and prepared for new plantation. The students were also motivated to plant shady trees in their homes or common places in the village. They were also encouraged to know about different plants at homes and school campus by using Plant Snap App. New plants were also planted to mark the occasion. Principal Amandeep Singh advised the students to keep caring the plants.
Teej Celebrated
Shahzada Nand College, Green Avenue, Amritsar, celebrated ‘Sawan Mahotsav’ under the patronage of esteemed president of college managing committee Sushma Mehra and Principal Dr Reena Talwar with zeal and enthusiasm. Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr Reena Talwar wished everyone happy Teej and highlighted the cultural significance of Teej. She said the aim of celebrating these kinds of festivals in college is to keep the students associated with their rich culture. On the occasion, staff and students came dressed in traditional Punjabi attires. Girls enjoyed swing rides. To make this event even more memorable, the presentation related to Sawan made the atmosphere exciting. Under the guidance of Prof Ramandeep from the Department of Music, students gave spectacular performance of Punjabi folk songs.
Van Mahotsav celebrated
According to the directions received from the Punjab government to celebrate Van Mahotsav, Nikas Kumar IAS, ADC Urban Development, planted saplings at the Government ITI Ranjit Avenue today. Principal Engineer Sanjeev Sharma, staff, and students welcomed him and Dinesh Suri, Superintendent Elections, Municipal Corporation, Amritsar, who accompanied him. During the event, ADC Nikas Kumar addressed the students after the plantation and said that Punjab and many other states are currently struggling with heat. MC Superintendent Dinesh Suri and the institution’s staff also planted saplings.
Airgo Academy gets award
Airgo Academy, Amritsar, an institution imparting education and skilling in the field of aviation and ground crew, has been awarded as Emerging Company of the Year award at the recently held Iconic Excellence awards in the field of education. The ceremony was held in Jaipur and Airgo’s director and educator; Meena Kumari was given the award by actor Eesha Deol, who was the chief guest at the event.
DAV students excel in exam
Students of DAV College Amritsar have achieved remarkable success in their final examinations conducted by Guru Nanak Dev University, bringing honour to their alma mater. Out of the top positions in the university exams, DAV students secured an impressive peak two positions. Vanshita Mahajan secured first position with an outstanding score of 686 out of 800 marks, in fourth semester of B.Voc Web Designing and Development (IT). Hasmukhdeen showcased his academic prowess by securing the second position with an impressive score of 685 marks. Dr Amardeep Gupta, Principal, DAV College Amritsar, expressed his pride in their achievements and wished them continued success in their future endeavours.
