Central team visits flood-hit areas in Tarn Taran

A team of senior officials of the Union Government visited the flood-affected areas in the district on Friday and assessed the loss incurred due to the natural calamity. The team visited the areas along the river Beas and Sutlej at Harike Pattan and at Goindwal Sahib. The team of officials included Sudip Datta, Under Secretary, Union Rural Development Ministry, Laxam Ram Budkar, Director Agriculture, Parkash Chand, Deputy Director, Ministry of Water Energy and RK Tiwari, CEA, Power Department. The team of Central officials was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Rahul, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Deepak Pareek and officials of the departments concerned. The team took stock of the ground position regarding losses and the condition of residents affected by the floods.

Deputy Commissioner Rahul informed the Central team about the facilities being provided to the residents in the affected areas and strengthening of the river embankments. The district officers apprised the Central team of the extent of crop loss in the surging flood waters.
