The Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) will introduce Class VIII Board exams in all its schools from next academic year. Abacus maths from UKG to Class VII will also be introduced and schools in rural areas would be developed through technological upgrades. These announcements were made by the Chief Khalsa Diwan president and former cabinet minister Dr Inderbir Nijjer who chaired a special meeting of CKD school principals.

He said that Abacus, as a skill subject, will be taught from UKG to Class VII in CKD schools so that the students become an expert in solving complex calculations easily and quickly. During the meeting, Director AP Singh Chawla, a member of CKD executive committee, said that from this year, the CKD will also introduce Class VIII Board exam under which every student will have to get at least 50 per cent marks in every subject to pass.

CKD president Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar emphasised upon the need to provide students in rural areas good environment and technical facilities.
