City schools hold events on Republic Day eve

On the eve of the 75th Republic Day, various educational institutions organised events in their respective school complexes on Saturday with patriotic fervour. They remembered the contribution of the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country.

Students of Guru Amar Das Adarsh Institute, Goindwal Sahib, were made aware about the importance of Republic day. Principal Manish Sood said inter-house competitions of poem, dance, speech, songs and power point presentations related to patriotism were held. The village elders also participated in the function. Dr Jatinderpal Singh Randhawa, director of the institute, also addressed on the occasion.

Students of Mata sahib Kaur Modern Senior Secondary School, Bharowal, unfurled the Tricolour on the eve of Republic Day. Educational competitions were organised and students presented a very colourful cultural programme. Managing director Tajinder Singh and Sukhwinder Kaur, president of the school managing committee, were among others who addressed on the occasion and paid tribute to the bravehearts who contributed for the country.

In a function organised on the occasion, principal of Mamta Niketan School Gurcharan Kaur recalled the services of Dr BR Ambedkar. Educational competitions were also held and the winners were awarded prizes.
