In a move that is set to affect international travel from Punjab, Air India has announced a 15 per cent reduction in its international wide body operations for the third quarter of 2025.
The reduction has a direct impact on Amritsar’s connectivity to Europe, especially two major routes—Amritsar to Birmingham and Amritsar to London (Gatwick). The flight from Amritsar to London (Gatwick) is cancelled till July 15 and the frequency reduced for Amritsar to Birmingham from three days to two days weekly. These flights are operated using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, a key component of Air India’s international fleet.
The cutback is likely to cause inconvenience for travellers from Punjab. Many passengers who had planned their trips around the previously available schedule may now face the challenge of rebooking or rescheduling their journeys. Air India has advised travellers to check their bookings in advance and be prepared for further adjustments.
